Position responsibilities / duties:
Ø Responsible for preparing detailed engineering designs for
freight, commuter and/or light rail transportation.
Ø Responsible for the construction phases of our rail track and yard
projects and implementation of the design work.
Ø Quality assurance and oversight of contractors to ensure
construction and installations are being done correctly.
Ø Familiar with general engineering standards, construction
techniques, and the ability to direct rail projects in the field.
Ø Technician writing ability includes the knowledge and ability to
prepare detailed specifications and reports for track engineering and
construction.
Ø Thorough understanding of the concepts and criteria of track
geometry design and the procedures to layout track work alignments and
CADD base alignment plans. Including the ability to develop and analyze
alternative track alignments.
Ø Site feasibility analysis, developing digital terrain models,
profiles, and grading quantities through final design and construction
phase.
Ø General understanding of railroad operating methods, rules and
signaling. Perform inspections of signals, rail lines, ties, switches,
balance, etc.
Ø Familiarity with the components of the track structure and their
function, and the procedures and equipment used in the various types of
track construction, maintenance and inspection.
Ø Experience with related railroad facilities such as bridges, grade
crossings, grade separation, stations, and maintenance facilities.
Ø Familiarity with railroad standards, engineering records,
operating concepts and the operating railroad environment.
Required:
Ø High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Ø Ten plus years rail design experience.
Ø Project management experience.
Ø Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office.
Ø Experience with MicroStation and MS Project a plus.
